How to use the daily CARS passage

CARS (Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills) is the one MCAT section you cannot cram for. It rewards a reading habit built over weeks, which is why this page gives you exactly one passage a day. Every visitor gets the same passage on the same date, a new one appears at midnight US Eastern time, and no passage repeats until the whole bank of more than 900 has been used.

Treat each passage like test day. On the real exam you get 90 minutes for 9 passages and 53 questions, so aim for about 10 minutes per passage, including the questions. Read once for the author's main point and tone, then answer from the text, not from what you already know about the topic. The timer at the top counts up so you can see your pace.

After you submit, read every explanation, including the ones you got right. The wrong options are built from the classic CARS traps: answers that are too extreme, true but irrelevant, or the opposite of the author's view. Your score and streak are saved in this browser, and if you are signed in the result also goes to your dashboard, with misses added to your wrong-answer review.
